BMW M GmbH celebrates this success with the launching of its M3 DTM Champion Edition. This special-edition model mimics the looks of the racing car driven by Spengler and is available exclusively in gorgeous Frozen Black metallic. Meanwhile, the car’s carbon flaps and gurney, as well as its matt black wheels, its various dark chrome elements, and sections of its livery display close links with the victorious BMW M3 DTM. Also in conformity with the theme, the BMW M stripe design can be found over the CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic) roof and boot lid, and the BMW M logo is fixed on the front wheel arches’ rear and decals can also be found on the rear side windows.
Inside, the champion edition car’s door sill strips copy the design of Spengler's helmet and its carbon-fiber interior trim strip carries his signature as well as the car’s serial number. What’s more, it contains a variety of exclusive interior additions, including an Alcantara steering wheel, a black Novillo leather trim plus features that come in contrasting Palladium Silver, and a handbrake lever that is embroidered with "M Power."
Moreover, technical elements such as the Competition package, M DCT Drivelogic, M Drive, as well as the M Driver's Package underscore the special model’s focus on high performance. Adding more “everyday” elements to the car are equipment like the Professional navigation system, Park Distance Control, and heated seats.
BMW M also offers the BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition’s 54 new owners a very special extra: the chance to take part in the exclusive BMW M Fascination Nordschleife training course in driving under Spengler himself. One of the BMW Driving Experience program’s most coveted elements is the fact that the course takes place on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife track, which is where BMW M cars go through extreme testing sessions and where their final chassis tuning is done.
Additionally, the champion edition is going to be built at the carmaker’s Regensburg facility and at the BMW M GmbH factory starting February 2013. In Germany, the starting price is €99,000, including VAT.
