In celebration of the 2012 season of the DTM German touring car championship, BMW made a special version of the M3 coupé that it dubbed the M3 DTM Champion Edition. The M3 DTM is still powered by the 414bhp 4.0-litre V8 of the standard car. It has a starting price of €99,000 and will go on sale in Germany in February next year.
It will be offered also in the UK. The DTM edition comes with black metallic paint and features matt black wheels, dark chrome trim and BMW M stickers.
The interior uses black leather, a steering wheel that’s covered by alcantara, as well as carbon fibre trim. It shows off the serial number of the car and it bears the signature of Bruno Spengler, the winner of the drivers’ title.
The M3 DTM has a generously helping of kit items. It comes with the Competition Package, which lowers the suspension and gives the damping a sport mode. It also gets sat nav, heated seats and rear parking sensors. There will only be 54 units to be built. Buyers will get the chance to participate in BMW M driver training courses at the Nürburgring.
