It appears that October was a good month for Bmw, as its sales were boosted by the new 5-Series and X1 compact sport-utility vehicle, overtaking Audi. According to the Bavarian manufacturer, Bmw brand sales rose 12 percent to 107,789 cars in October, while the deliveries including Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles rose 12 percent in October to 128,593 cars but also SUVs.
Apparently, the new Bmw X1 was delivered to 10,162 customers, but also the other vehicles from the X family remained on course for success: the Bmw X5 sales increased 8.5% to 8,578 vehicles, while the X6 sales were 11.7% higher at 3,827 units.
The most successful model was the Bmw 7-Series, which beat the previous model’s sales record in October. Sales of the 7-Series model rose 36% to 51,936 vehicles since January 2010.
The brand’s new models have continued to report strong gains for the month of October resulting in a positive contribution to its sales performance, Ian Robertson disclosed. Robertson, a member of BMW AG’s Board of Management, oversees Sales and Marketing.
Among others, these models include the BMW 5 Series Touring, BMW 5 Series Sedan, BMW X1, and even the MINI Countryman. Robertson added that new orders for these different models have remained strong and considering at how most markets have started to recover, the brand expects that sales growth for the year will reach double digits.
The demand of the MINI Countryman has been stronger compared to even the expected projections and is on the way to being a very successful model, Robertson further added. The MINI Countryman is to be launched, based on the plan, to key export markets like the U.S in the next few weeks.
This is expected to add to the MINI brand’s positive sales performance in the coming months. For October, the BMW Group reported that sales volumes have increased in its three largest markets which are Germany, China, and the U.S.
In Germany for example, new vehicles registrations are recorded to total 23,220, a 4.8% increase. The overall market through has decreased by 27% since January. Still the BMW Group has increased the market share by as much as 2.4 percentage points to 9% for the same period.
