Dodge, Bob Bondurant create High Performance Driving School for Dodge/SRT buyers

Article by Christian Andrei, on November 5, 2015

For drivers who want to learn how to pilot high performance machines from Dodge and SRT from professionals and on a track, here is their big chance. Dodge and the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving have formed “The Official High Performance Driving School of Dodge/SRT.”

Those who can take part in this endeavor are Dodge customers who purchase or lease a MY2015 or MY2016 Dodge/SRT. Starting Jan. 1, 2016, they will be able to take part in a one-day driving class handled by professional instructors with on-the-wheel driving and racing lessons on the track.

The lessons will be held at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona. They will be taught skid control, accident avoidance and line technique. They will also take part in a lead-and-follow session.

Ultimately, the Official High Performance Driving School of Dodge/SRT will allow participants to fuse advanced street driving skills and proven racing techniques. The schools will also allow participants to ride high performance SRT vehicles as part of the lessons.

The list includes the 707-hp Dodge Charger and a Challenger SRT Hellcats. Interestingly, Bondurant’s fleet is being converted to Dodge Chargers, Challengers and Vipers. For those who qualify, they will be given the privilege to pilot the Dodge Viper ACR, which is considered as the fastest street-legal Viper track car.

SRT customers have one year from the date of purchase or lease to avail of this learning opportunity. While eligible customers are given access to the school and vehicles for track driving, they will have to take care of their own hotel accommodations and travel.

According to Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler, Fiat, FCA – North America, they want drivers to appreciate the level of performance that Dodge/SRT vehicles could deliver.

He remarked that by partnering with Bob Bondurant, they could provide owners of Dodge/SRT vehicles both the perfect track environment and professional guidance that could help them further develop performance driving skills.

He added that the school gives FCA a chance to introduce their lineup of SRT vehicles to a new group of performance car enthusiasts. On the other hand, Bob Bondurant himself remarked that the day of launching the Bondurant Racing School -- to honor his championship legacy -- is coming.

He added that the Dodge/SRT muscle cars are the perfect platform for thoroughly teaching road racing. Since 1968, Bondurant has been considered as one of the best in terms of professional driving instruction. He formulated the so-called Bondurant Method and has taught this technique to over 500,000 students.
