Bob Dylan will take center-stage in a Chrysler commercial that will be at Super Bowl XLVIII, according to Billboard magazine. He will follow the likes of Eminem, Clint Eastwood and Berry Gordy. Dylan's Super Bowl commercial is expected to highlight the 2015 Chrysler 200, which was recently unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
"Someone made the comment to me that I had the right commercial in 2011 and the wrong car," Fiat-Chrysler chief executive Sergio Marchionne told Bloomberg at the Detroit show, referring to the Eminem spot. "I think we now have hopefully the right commercial and the right car." Dylan had been considered by advertisers as difficult to sign for commercials but he has been active for the past decade, according to Billboard.
Dylan has lent his voice or likeness in commercial for Victoria's Secret (2004) and Cadillac (2007). Last fall, a Jeep ad used an unreleased recording of Dylan covering Blind Willie Johnson's "Motherless Children," according to Billboard. Dylan will also be featured in a Chobani spot during the Super Bowl broadcast, using his 1966 hit "I Want You," according to the magazine.
