Breitling will present special all-white “Ice” versions of the Bentley GT and Bentley GT Racing chronographs at Baselworld 2011. These chronographs can fit any wrist size as these are more compact than the other Breitling for Bentley models.
They also offer a more distinctive and instantly recognizable appearance. The Ice White dial (an exclusive Bentley livery color) is complemented with a rubber strap in the same shade. These dials, highlighted by rimmed counters, are reminiscent of the dashboards of Bentley Grand Tourers.
The bezel with its knurled motif is inspired by the marque’s control buttons, says WatchTime. The “chassis” of the Bentley GT Ice chronograph has a steel case with an all-polished finish. The Bentley GT Racing Ice version stands out with its finishes that alternate between satin-brushed upper surfaces and polished sides.
Its caseback carries a medallion with the outline of the Bentley Continental GT, a quintessential powerful grand tourer. The watches are equipped with the selfwinding Breitling Calibre 13B chronograph movement, chronometer-certified by the COSC. They also feature a calendar that displays the day and date through a big twin aperture at 3 o’clock. The Bentley GT Ice and Bentley GT Racing Ice each have a price tag of $7,165.
The new Bentley Continental GT coupe presents a perfect opportunity for the carmaker’s design and engineering teams to set a direction for the Continental. When the carmaker launched the Bentley Continental GT in 2003, the carmaker was able to make the first move to its revival while defining a new market segment.
Now, the Bentley Continental GT coupe hopes to cash in on the huge success of its iconic predecessor – still conveying the same GT spirit but offering a higher level of design, performance, refinement, engineering, practicality and luxury. Serving as the core of the new Continental GT four-seat coupe is the carmaker’s own six-liter, 12-cylinder, twin-turbocharged engine that offers an increased level of output at 575PS (567bhp/423kW) and torque at 700Nm (516lb ft) of torque.
This engine – sending power via a new Quickshift transmission that allows double downshifts – is specified with advanced FlexFuel technology that enables it to be filled with gasoline and/or sustainable bioethanol (up to E85). Bentley will be offering an all-new, high-output 8-cylinder engine for the new Bentley Continental GT coupe starting late 2011. This engine emits 40-percent less carbon dioxide than a comparable W12 engine.
In fact, this engine should offer a best-in-class carbon dioxide emissions-to-power ratio. Both the 12-cylinder and the 8-cylinder engines will be complemented by an all-wheel drive system with a sporty 40:60 rear-torque bias, which helps minimize understeer during hard cornering and allows an experienced driver to control its line and balance by just precise throttle control.
The beauty and elegance of the new Bentley Continental GT coupe are revealed by its marvelously sculptured new body and a modern interior that provides a whole new level of luxurious comfort. In fact, the cabin of the new Bentley Continental GT coupe is provided with seats that offer greater support and rear leg-room and a more stylish sweeping dashboard. In addition, the interior comes with a new touchscreen infotainment system with state-of-the-art navigation, Google Maps and entertainment.
This is complemented by the latest iteration of the Balanced Mode Radiator speaker technology and Dirac Dimensions digital sound processing. Franz-Josef Paefgen, chairman and chief executive of Bentley, described the new Continental GT coupe as a work of art that features superb craftsmanship as well as elegant, contemporary design. He quipped that while the new Continental GT coupe drives like a supercar, it does not sacrifice ride comfort or practicality.
