At the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Bugatti brought the last model from “Les Legendes of Bugatti” edition that celebrated Ettore Bugatti, the founder of the company. And yet, Bugatti wanted to surprise everyone and revealed another special vehicle, called the Grand Sport Vitesse “1 of 1”.
Commissioned by a wealthy owner in Singapore, the Grand Sport Vitesse “1 of 1” is truly one of a kind and comes with several features that were developed by the company especially for this car. As you can see, the vehicle’s carbon-fiber body features black and yellow colours, just like the legendary Bugatti vehicles such as the Type 41 Royale, Type 55 and Type 44. The Grand Sport Vitesse “1 of 1” was presented next to a Type 44 provided by the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, USA.
In addition, the rims fitted on the vehicles are also painted black and yellow. The front grille was also changed and for the first time the company replaced the traditional expanded mesh grille with a new one that features customer’s initials, “PL”.
The big rear wing is featured in black on the yellow underside of the rear wing, which extends at 180 km/h. Same black and yellow colour scheme is found at the interior, while the instrument panel is made of deep-black exposed carbon.
The yellow stitching complements the design and it is found on the steering wheel, seats and gear knob. Shining in yellow is the Bugatti Type 35 as the vehicle features a sketch of the legendary race car rendered in the black carbon lid of the rear centre box located between the seats.
For those who don’t know, the Bugatti Type 35 had more than 2,000 victories and podium finishes and it is a symbol for the French company. The door panels are also special and in order to create them, Bugatti used a new production technique.
The company says that the door panel is made from duo-tone leather (black on the outside and yellow on the inside) that was perforated with a laser, exposing the yellow layer. The design created represents a silhouette of a Veyron.
Power comes from the 8.0-liter W16 engine that produces 1,200 hp and 1,500 Nm at 3,000 to 5,000 rpm. With these numbers, the Grand Sport Vitesse “1 of 1” is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.6 seconds, while top speed is 408.84 km/h (254 mph). [source: Bugatti]
