For those who don’t know yet, Bugatti is a brand with a rich history in the car industry and it appears that the manufacturer decided to celebrate its heroes this year. As a result, the French luxury marque will bring out an exclusive edition, “Les Legendes de Bugatti” (Bugatti Legends), in order to commemorate the names that played a crucial role in its history.
This year, in the 90th anniversary year of the 24 Heures du Mans, Bugatti decided to bring a special edition of the Grand Sport Vitesse that pays tribute to Jean-Pierre Wimille, the man who garnered two victories for Bugatti at Le Mans. The manufacturer will bting the Bugatti Legend “Jean-Pierre Wimille” at the US the Quail/Pebble Beach weekend which takes place from 16 to 18 August.
Moreover, Bugatti announced that in the next twelve months will launch six individual Bugatti Legends based on the Grand Sport Vitesse. Regarding the new Bugatti Legend “Jean-Pierre Wimille”, the vehicle is inspired by the race car that won the Le Mans 24 Hours race back in 1937 a.k.a. the 57G Tank. The legendary car featured a racing blue finish that identified French racing cars and as a result, the Vitesse now shines in blue clear-coated carbon fiber and a light Wimille Bleu paintwork finish. Same colour scheme is continued at the interior.
The special edition Vitesse features the same 8.0-liter W16 engine that develops 1,200 PS and a maximum torque of 1,500 Nm @ 3,000 – 5,000 rpm. With these numbers, the Vitesse is able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.6 seconds. For those interested, the production run for the Bugatti Legend “Jean-Pierre Wimille” will be limited to just 3 vehicles.
