Reading a book while driving invites an accident. However, drivers may still focus on the road ahead if they are listening to an audiobook. For Buick customers, this leisure is an added bonus, since they could easily stream audiobooks using OnStar 4G LTE, which comes as standard on all MY2016 Buick models.

They are even treated to two free books streamed through that car owners can take advantage of until the end of 2016. This offer can be redeemed by any Buick customer with an active OnStar subscription through the RemoteLink smartphone app or a live advisor.

Maritz research data show that Buick drivers are around 30 percent more likely to read books than customers of other auto brands. Ian Small, president and COO of, remarked that streaming audiobooks is a “great way” for drivers to discover a new book without having to take off their eyes off the road ahead.

He said that with the offer, Buick customers could listen to their new favorite books, with the first two books ready for download at no extra charge. Customers of MY2016 Buick Regal or LaCrosse are treated to Apple CarPlay, which allows them to link their compatible iPhone (with iOS 7.1 or higher) via USB.

This allows them to view and even control certain apps using the vehicle’s IntelliLink touchscreen. Interestingly, the iPhone app is compatible with CarPlay.

Meanwhile, customers of other Buick models – like the Enclave, Encore and Verano – comes with Bluetooth audio (as standard) that enables them to audio-stream from a smartphone through the vehicle’s speakers.

All Buick vehicles for the 2016 model year in the United States and Canada feature OnStar 4G LTE and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot – as standard – enabling customers to stream an audiobook. All MY2016 Buicks feature a data trial of three months or 3 GB, whichever comes first.

For 2016 Buick Regal or LaCrosse owners, the in-vehicle listening experience includes the smart and simple smartphone integration of Apple CarPlay. It allows drivers to connect a compatible iPhone running iOS 7.1 or higher via USB to view and control certain apps through the IntelliLink touchscreen. The iPhone app features CarPlay compatibility.

Other Buick models, including Enclave, Encore and Verano, feature standard Bluetooth audio that allows streaming audio from a smartphone through the vehicle’s speakers.
