Since Ferrari ended its tie-up with watch maker Panerai, there have been rumors that the carmaker will soon enter a deal with a new watch maker partner. Instead of getting into classic designs, Ferrari chose to go wild by linking up with watch designer Jean-Francios Ruchonnet via Cabestan, one of the brands that he designs.
Reports say that a deal had already been signed and that we should expect watches by this boutique luxury watch brand to come out soon.
This prototype, called the Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan, is influenced by the combination of the new Cabestan Nostromo and the Cabestan Winch Vertical Tourbillon.
The design is reminiscent of modern Ferrari design and technology. Carbonfiber is used on its middle bridge section and it's believed that the strap is made from materials used for seats and steering wheels.
This time piece, which is likely to be priced at around 300,000 euros, will have a limited run of 60 pieces. The watch will have a tourbillon and has the very meticulously made fusee chain.
Each link in the tiny bicycle chain style series of links is believed to be made by hand by master watch maker Eric Coudray.
This movement is exceptionally accurate for a mechanical watch at about plus or minus one second per day. The time on this watch is actually told on rotating, vertically aligned barrels. Cabestan revealed that the watch will only be offered to Ferrari clients. This will likely mean that only Ferrari will be able to sell it or will only be sold to Ferrari automobile customers.
