Who would think that buying an all-new Mazda6 would eventually result to receiving the vehicle for free? Kelly Moses of Wilmslow town in Cheshire probably never thought that he would get his pre-ordered £22,525 Mazda6 SE-L Tourer for free. Moses was declared as the winner of the Mazda6 Prize Draw competition, after pre-ordering his unit in December 2012.
The 45-year old chartered accountant said winning the draw was a “truly fantastic way to start the new year.” Moses remarked that he and his wife both agreed that the new Mazda6 is a very stylish car with tremendous visual appeal, especially when finished in Soul Red.
He disclosed that while he is pleased with their current Mazda6, they decided to replace it with the latest model after a quick test drive. He said the new model features a great interior and plenty of practicality to cater for the needs of his young family. He quipped that is looking forward to collecting his free brand new Mazda6 from RRG Mazda later in the months.
As part of the build-up for the arrival of the all-new Mazda6, which would be rolled out on January 25, 2013, Mazda announced in November 2012 that all retail customers who pre-ordered the new model on or before December 31, 2012, would qualify for a prize draw for the chance to win their new car free-of-charge.
As a result of the announcement, there were quite a number of visitors to the Mazda6 visited dealers’ showrooms prior to its official launch, Peter Allibon, Sales Director, Mazda Motors UK, said. Allibon remarked that new Mazda6 saloon and tourer are bound to become their class leaders this year thanks to its being “genuinely all-new in every area of design and engineering,” as well as to its fuel economy that could go as high as 67.3mpg and emissions that could go as low as 108g/km.
Back during the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, Mazda presented what was known as the Takeri concept car. With this as an inspiration, the brand revealed it has come out with a mass production version dubbed the Mazda 6. On the exterior, the front section reveals that incorporated to the deeply sculpted face is the “signature wing.” Mazda said that this will be the unifying feature of the new generation’s design.
The curves on the hood begin from the edges of this “signature wing” which then go all the way to the character lines of the body. Combined with how solid the nose has been designed, they manage to complement the body’s overall dynamic form.
This same form gives that sense of motion. On its side, the defining feature is its character lines. The first is the front fender line which highlights the strong shoulders that are able to support the agile forefeet. There is also a rear fender line which gives a hint of the driving force offered on the hind quarter of the vehicle.
Finally, there is that elegant line which begins at the tire in the rear and extends forward. These lines are able to give the appearance of a predator that is crouched and preparing to leap with that explosion of movement.
Chief Designer Akira Tamatani says that by having a wide and low stance mixed in with a robust framework, the Mazda 6 is able to display both stability and strength. This gives it that sense of vitality without lessening any of the celebrated visual appeal and the beautiful shape it shows as a CD vehicle, he adds. Tamatani continues and says that the brand managed to come out with a design wherein that dynamic expression of motion gives it that strong presence.
A quick glance at the vehicle and everyone gets excited about the driving experience even before it happens. Its exterior has been designed to express that dignity, animalistic tenacity, and athletic flare. Highlighting that is the strong and smooth physique. This is balanced with the interior which is in keynote black. Further the interior is modern and classy but not at the expense of that timeless feeling of quality and luxury.
