Chevrolet begins shipment of the 2015 Corvette Z06 Coupe

Article by Christian A., on December 2, 2014

GM proudly announced that the all-new 2015 Corvette Z06 Coupe is heading to its dealerships from the Bowling Green Assembly and the first customers will be able to get behind the wheel later this week. The 2015 Corvette Z06 is an important model for the American carmaker and it is the first Z06 to offer the new 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.

In addition, it is the first time since 1963 that the Z06 will be available as a convertible. Power comes from the LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 650 hp (485 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque at 3,600 rpm, making it GM’s most powerful production car.

The engine is able to push the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.95 seconds when using the 8-speed automatic transmission and in 3.2 seconds when equipped with the standard 7-speed manual gearbox.

Moreover, the 2015 Corvette Z06 runs the quarter mile in 10.95 seconds with the 8-speed automatic and in 11.2 seconds with the seven-speed manual. Both versions hit 127 mph (205 km/h) at the end of the quarter mile.

For those who still don’t know, the 2015 Corvette Z06 starts at $78,995 including destination charges, while the convertible model costs $83,995.
