For its creative advertising tasks, General Motors Co.'s Chevrolet Division chose two agencies to help out for the first half of 2010.
In a statement, Chevrolet confirmed that Publicis will be accomplishing work for the Chevrolet Malibu, Equinox and Traverse nameplates and that longtime partner Campbell-Ewald will execute ads for the Silverado and Silverado HD, aside from some brand work for February's Winter Olympics.
Campbell-Ewald will continue to be Chevrolet's agency of record while retaining the account for the division's retail business.
Kim Brink, Chevrolet's general director, said that it anticipates continuing its partnership with Campbell-Ewald while at the same time, building a new relationship with Publicis to "develop compelling, effective, creative to debut during the 2010 Winter Olympics."
Mark your calendars for February 12, the date set for Chevrolet's new ads to debut. Vehicle-specific campaigns will run through the second quarter of 2010.
The review that led to this new agreement with Publicis had been initiated months ago by Brent Dewar, who incidentally had left his position as general manager and global coordinator last week.
Dewar, who had been with Chevrolet for 31 years, is replaced by Jim Campbell.
