Christmas Gifts from BMW Lifestyle Collection revealed

Article by Christian A., on October 31, 2011

Consumers who don’t want to deal with the pre-Christmas shopping crowds can just log on to bmw-shop.com in order to purchase exciting presents for the entire family. Among the recommended products, especially for daughters, in the website's BMW Lifestyle Collection is the BMW Kidsbike, which is now available in orange in addition to the red and blue variants.

This bicycle is a running bicycle, which can be transformed into a regular one as the child gets older. To convert the bike to a regular bicycle, the parent would just have to put in the chain and pedals. The bicycle also comes with a helmet for protection during the child's first runs.

This helmet is validated by the German safety organization TÜV. Available as a separate item is a two-meter-long cable lock that can be used to protect the bike when parked outside. Another recommended product available in the website is the miniature variant of the BMW X6. It is a remote-controlled precisely-guided unit with a scale of 1:14 of the vehicle model.

Also available at the online shop is the new BMW writing set, consisting of a classic fountain pen and a ball-point pen, which both have components made of high-quality rhodium and a black glossy finish.

The cap and end piece of these stunning pens feature a BMW engraving. Lastly, a sporty stainless-steel M chronograph is also available at the website. It comes in a luxurious gift box. The tips of the hour markers and hands are luminous white. Inside, a Swiss Ronda movement operates with a date indicator, stopwatch function and a small seconds dial. It is also water-resistant to 10 atm.

If you don't want the scale model of the new X6, we do recommend the real one! The BMW X6, the first Sports Activity Coupe ever, will come in two Twin Turbo direct injection engine versions: the xDrive50i (4.4 V8 engine, 400hp, 450lb.-ft torque) and the xDrive35i (3.0 inline six-cylinder engine, 300hp, 300 lb.-ft. torque).

X6 is a one-of-a-kind vehicle for its combination of special features and capabilities. Its design takes inspiration from the dynamic sophistication of a larger BMW Coupe as well as the aggressive aura of a BMW X model.

BMW X6 standardly features the marque’s intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive technology which automatically manages the appropriate drive power distribution between front and rear axles, with timely optimal adjustments depending on any driving condition and situation.

The X6 is the first to feature Dynamic Performance Control in all versions. Like the xDrive system, this also finely tunes drive force distribution in a timely manner, but it works between the two rear wheels. Controlled by a high-tech computer system, Dynamic Performance Control utilises two planetary gear sets and two clutch packs to permit rear wheel torque multiplication independent of the other wheel.

It therefore helps in steering because of the appropriate torque applied to each rear wheel. This is a proprietary, state-of-the-art technology that works during both acceleration and deceleration to markedly improve steering precision, thereby enhancing vehicle agility regardless of running speed.

Overall stability is also improved even during quick cornering, abrupt manoeuvring and sudden gas pedal releasing, ensuring safety but also enabling new degrees of driving excitement and dynamics. Lastly, Dynamic Performance Control also assures safety through traction stabilisation.

Another new feature of the BMW X6 is its V8 engine with Twin Turbo technology and direct gasoline injection. This 4.4 litre eight-cylinder power plant produces up to 400hp with maximum torque of 450 lb-ft. available over a possibly unprecedented engine speed range of 1,800-4,500 rpm. It truly surpasses the power of any engine in the history of the BMW X models.
