Besides the DS 6WR, Citroen also brought the C-XR Concept at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show a.k.a. Auto China 2014. This new concept car is a contemporary take on the SUV and previews the first SUV developed by the joint venture between Citroen and Dongfeng Motor Group.

The new CX-R Concept design is highlighted by the wide chrome-finished grille that links the chevrons to the headlamps, LED daytime running lights, headlamps that feature a double module and indicators, a C-shaped side signature that provides a visual link between the roof bars and chrome-finished waistline and 3D-effect rear lights as well as chrome-finished dual tailpipes.

Moreover, the C-XR Concept has large 17-inch wheels but also a raised ground clearance in order to offer optimum comfort and safety. In addition, the concept’s off-road capabilities are highlighted with the front and rear fairing and wheel arch embellishers, as well as by the red side décor and wing-mirror housings.

Fitted with a 2.65 m wheelbase, the C-XR has a body length of 4.26 m and an ideal length-to-height ration of 1.79 m x 1.56 m. Thanks to the 2.65 wheelbase (the longest in the category), the C-XR provides exceptional roominess especially for the rear passengers.

The Citroen C-XR Concept is also strong on sensory comfort, with its large glass panoramic roof that floods the cabin with soft, filtered light. Under the hood, there is a THP petrol engine delivering 160 hp, equipped with Stop&Start system but also bolted to the latest-generation automatic gearbox.

Thanks to the weight reduction, the C-XR Concept promises top-quality road manners for an SUV, despite a drop in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the concept car is fitted with Grip Control technology, a system that manages the grip of the wheels in line with the nature of the road surface.
