The first images of the DS5, the third model in Citroen’s innovative DS line, have recently been released. This model demonstrates a novel style, outstanding driving dynamics and incomparable refinement with new engineering solutions.
Citroen also chose this model to be the first to be equipped with HYbrid4 diesel hybrid technology. Citroen asserts that this hybrid system provides 200bhp and a four-wheel drive capability.
For the city, it runs on emission-free electric power and for the open road, it has an acceleration boost function. Notably, it only has total CO2 emissions of 99g/km.
The car’s exterior takes inspiration from the C-SportLounge concept, with its sleek profile and muscular wheel arches that wrap around the large (16” to 19”) alloy wheels.
These details give DS5 an air of “refined confidence.” At the front of the DS5 is a hefty air intake, a huge chrome-finished grille that accommodates the chevrons and a new LED light signature. The DS5 features radical chrome-finished ‘sabre’ inserts that extend from the top of every headlamp to the windscreen.
The interior boasts of the same driver-oriented attention. It has a cockpit that features a driving position similar to that of the coupe. It also has a near-vertical steering wheel and a wide central console. Multiple buttons, switches, scroll wheels and toggles can be seen on two central consoles, with one positioned low while the other is found above the driver’s head.
Pushing the start button once turns the ambient light on in the interior. The DS5 will debut in the Shanghai motor show in a one-off livery as the Citroen DS5 White Pearl. Ebony-colored full-grain leather that has contrasting silver-flecked overstitching is featured in the cabin.
Among its interior detailing are decorative inserts in Markassa ebony and a very reflective fascia, made by putting on many layers of lacquer. DS5 White Pearl rides on a specially designed set of 20-inch alloy wheels.
