Citroën has partnered with Facebook on an app that allows the public to select the design for a new customized variant of the C1 city car, which is dubbed the Citroën C1 Connexion. This special edition vehicle will be the first production unit in the United Kingdom crowdsourced on Facebook. The C1 Connexion project has the strapline: "You like it. We make it."
This initiative will let the public decide on the design of the special edition vehicle and on the features it will be equipped with. A specially designed app is used to go through the vehicle creation process. This app is available on Citroën UK's official Facebook page at facebook.com/citroenuk.
Six configuration elements are available, enabling people to select the number of doors, the features the vehicle will have such as Sat Nav or Bluetooth, the colors of the interior and exterior, or even classy alloy wheels. The most famous configuration of the special edition C1 Connexion will be brought into production and will be launched for sale later this year.
Participants can also join a competition to win one of the first production variants of the special edition vehicle.
Facebook members can choose to have a personalized experience, extracting a selection of their personal information to enhance the digital environment of the configurator.
Citroën UK's Digital Marketing Head Melina Kacherou-Carage expressed that this collaboration with Facebook is a "really exciting project" for the automaker. She added that with 'Créative Technologie', they are taking the choices of the public in order to create a vehicle for everyone -- which is "crowdsourcing in action." The New C1 Connexion will be a vehicle manufactured for the "for the Facebook generation, by the Facebook generation," she added.
