Citroen upgrades Trafficmaster Smartnav and Trackstar package for 2012

Article by Anita Panait, on February 16, 2012

Citroën has further enhanced the Trafficmaster Smartnav and Trackstar package fitted as standard to all its Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay vehicles. The new telematics package, which comes in a new, larger colour touchscreen, now has the ability to call for emergency assistance through the SOS icon display.

The icon provides the driver access to breakdown call or B-Call and emergency call or E-Call facilities.Once accessed, the B-Calls will be connected directly to The AA for fastest possible response.

The E-Calls, meanwhile, allows a driver to address other emergencies like accidents or medical problems directly to the Trafficmaster, which will then liaise with the emergency services. Once the driver accesses the E-Call function, his details and GPS location will be transmitted simultaneously to Trafficmaster. Citroën will replicate the E-Call feature for the B-Call function to The AA.

The package is consistent with European legislation that requires that all vehicles have similar breakdown and emergency call features from 2015, making Citroën the first carmaker in the UK LCV market to offer this service. Fleet operators, meanwhile could also have the optional fleet management tool, Fleet Director, installed at their vehicles.

The Fleet Director, when used in combo with the telematics package, allows two-way messaging between the fleet operator and all vehicles on the fleet.  Fleet operators could avail of the Fleet Director system for monthly per-vehicle fee of £19.95 + VAT.

“Citroën LCVs are designed to deliver both optimum environmental performance and low whole life operating costs,” Scott Michael, Citroën’s Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager said, adding that Trafficmaster and Trackstar telematics package assists in the process by “helping to improve productivity, reduce driver stress levels and raise safety standards.”
