Citroen works with Orla Kiely on limited edition DS3 collection

Article by Christian Andrei, on January 19, 2011

Citroën and renowned designer, Orla Kiely, have announced an exciting collaboration for an exclusive line of DS3 models: the DS3 by Orla Kiely Collection, which is limited to only 500 cars. The collection merges Kiely's iconic style into the eye-catching and award-winning features of Citroën's unique DS3.

Externally, the collection showcases four body colors; colored door mirrors; four different roof designs - featuring Kiely’s signature stem or acorn patterns; black or white 17” alloy wheels; and stem print rear window graphics.

An Orla Kiely stem graphic is also on the rear tailgate, with a further signature positioned in the middle of the rear spoiler.

Inside, owners will delight in the stylish leather seats with their Orla Kiely embossed multi-colored headrests; color contrasting dashboard and door handle inserts in cream or brown; and stem or acorn print carpet mats. Kiely said that working with Citroën and DS3 was such an "exciting" project as it's so different from all her previous work.

Looking at the Citroën DS3, each of the features shows the creative talent that the company offers when it comes to innovative vehicle design. Regardless of from what angle it is being viewed, it has a refreshing style and an unquestionable on-road presence.

This is proven by the stand-out components like the front LED lights and its sleek design, 'shark fin' B-pillar, and contrasting 'floating roof'. The LED lights in particular are generally seen only in premium models. On the interior, the cabin shows off an ambience of modern elegance and class.

Extra attention to detail is evident as well as the extensive use of a number of luxury materials like that of chrome and leather. The upper portion of its flowing dashboard for example mirrors the floating rood. All around the cabin, thermo-coated materials are used.

This soft grain organic material goes through the entire width of the dashboard, from the driver up to the passenger side and perfectly contrasts with the smooth and lacquered effect of the strip. Since Citroën values freedom of expression, the DS3 offers a wide-range of personalization for the interior and exterior.

While a number of shades for the body is offered, its unique 'floating' roof can come in four colors (black, blue, red, and white), all of which contrasts with the car’s main body. Even the colors of the rubbing strips and wing mirrors can be personalized. They can even have the smart chrome finish.

A wide variety of colors is also available for the wheel and the wheel centers. For the interior, there is a choice of six possible finishes for the dashboard strip. This includes the instrument cluster, air vents, multi-function screen, and the scented air-fresher.

There are also different colored leather and fabrics made available for the contemporary seat upholstery design. The gear knob has five available trims that can combine different leather and colors with sati-finish chrome.

The smart chrome finishes in the interior of the DS3 can also come with a satin-textured finish. Even the key fob of the DS3 has its own unique style and has a disc whose color matches that of the body. This means customers can always have a part of the DS3 with them.
