Chevrolet got Corvette Racing driver Tommy Milner to promote its new 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible in trio 90-second promotional videos shot at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Va. In one of the videos, Milner discusses the Corvette 427 convertible aerodynamics.
He took note of the optional carbon-fiber splitter, which helps reduce drag and create negative lift, allowing the car to stay on the ground for better control. Another video shows Milner providing a graphic demonstration of the car’s lightweight carbon-fiber hood.
The video also shows Milner enumerating the key performance aspects of the Corvette 427 convertible. The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 convertible is powered by a 505-hp V8 engine, which allows it to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and to achieve a top speed of over 190 mph.
Chevrolet will start selling the Corvette 427 convertible this summer, in time for its celebration of Corvette's 60th anniversary for the 2013 model year, which is also the last year for the car’s sixth generation. The 427 convertible is based on the Grand Sport convertible with a 7.0-liter V8 engine and a six-speed manual transmission from the Z06 model.
