Dating site survey: BMW drivers are twice as likely to cheat on wives

Article by Anita Panait, on April 18, 2012

A recent survey conducted by dating site IllicitEncounters.com suggests that cheating husbands are twice more likely to drive a BMW vehicle than any other brand. According to the site, 19.21% of the members of IllicitEncounters.com, roughly 123,000 husbands, drive a BMW. The site is known for having married individuals who are engaged in extra-marital affairs as members.

The second most popular car brand among cheating husbands is Audi, with around 8.79% of the site’s members driving them. Rounding up the third, fourth, and fifth places are Mercedes with 8.23%, Jaguar with 6.59% and Land Rover with 4.94%. It seems that not only cheating husbands prefer driving BMW but also wandering wives. This comes as around 11.16% of the total female respondents admitted to be driving BMW.

The survey also shows which car brands are least favored by adulterers. According to the survey, only 0.28% of the site’s members drive SEATs or Renaults. Rounding up the bottom five is MG with 0.53%, and Fiat and Chrysler with 0.55%. As to the connection between cheating married people and the cars they drive, Illicit Encounters spokesperson Rosie Freeman-Jones said that there is an intrinsic link between success and cheating.

Freeman-Jones said the successful people are often risk-takers and that they are where they are now because they set high standards. Freeman-Jones noted that these kinds of people are prone to settle for unsatisfying relationships or monotony. The Illicit Encounters spokesperson said the results did not surprise her, since their membership demographic is typically middle-class, high-earning and high-achieving.
