Dodge and Mopar announce downloadable smartphone application

Dodge and Mopar will be launching a downloadable smartphone application that will provide access to a new bundle of services offered for all Dodge vehicles. This free application will initially be released for the new Dodge Durango and Charger owners. Starting mid-January, it will also be compatible with Avenger, Journey and Grand Caravan.

The application is developed by Michigan-based Tweddle Group. It is only available in the U.S. and is compatible with Apple's iPhone, Blackberry devices and Android smartphones.

Pietro Gorlier, President – Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, Chrysler Group LLC, said that Dodge's new vehicle-information application is part of its company’s customer care initiatives. He also said that this software “creates a convenient, on-demand channel of communication” with its customers.

The package offers access to Customer Care and 24-hour road-side assistance, product-feature video demonstrations and connections with other owners through the company's brands on social media sites. Furthermore, each application will give details including vehicle operating instructions, vehicle maintenance schedules, service contract details, warning lights and controls, warranty information and customer assistance.

The new Dodge smartphone vehicle-information apps should complement current user guides and DVDs that come with each vehicle. Each app should enable customers to access functional categories and view detailed topics of interest related to their vehicle.

Major features include product information, vehicle maintenance schedules and vehicle operating instructions as well as service contract details, warranty information, warning lights and controls and customer assistance.

The app also features links to Mopar parts and accessories, social media sites and product brand gear and merchandise and comes with high-resolution product information images and videos. Dodge is a brand of cars, crossovers, minivans and SUVs that are built to be agile, sensible and daring.

For the 2011 model year, Dodge is introducing six all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles as well as new lifestyle packages all designed to cater to the wants and needs of its customers. Dodge Brand and Mopar Introduce Vehicle Information Smartphone Applications

The Dodge brand and Mopar are making it easier than ever for owners to connect with their vehicles, giving electronic information at their fingertips with a free, new smartphone application.

The new Mopar apps provide vehicle operation, maintenance and warranty information, as well as product feature video demonstrations, connections with fellow owners via the company's brands on social media sites and access to customer care and 24-hour road-side assistance. Because the system is digital, it also allows Dodge to make updates to the "electronic" owner's manual in real-time.

New Dodge Durango and Charger owners can now download vehicle information applications to select personal smartphones. The new Mopar feature, developed by Michigan-based Tweddle Group, is designed to support vehicles in the U.S. market. The applications will first be available for iPhone and later for BlackBerry and Android devices on major mobile carriers. Applications for the Avenger, Journey and Grand Caravan will be available in mid-January 2011.

Application Features

These new Dodge smartphone vehicle information apps will complement existing user guides and DVDs that are currently provided with each vehicle. Each vehicle-information app will allow the consumer to browse functional categories and view detailed topics of interest relative to their specific vehicle.
