Early buyers of Cadillac ELR will get 240-volt home charging station for free

Article by Christian Andrei, on January 28, 2014

Cadillac announced today that early buyers of the all-new 2014 ELR electrified luxury coupe will also receive a complimentary 240-volt home charging station. As a reminder, we will tell you that the 2014 ELR is available for an ultra-low-mileage, 39-month lease for qualified lessees at $699 per month with $5,999 due at signing after all offers.

The 2014 Cadillac ELR has a price tag of $75,995, but after a $7,500 federal tax credit, the vehicle is available for $68,495. Under the hood, the ELR is identical with the Chevrolet Volt, which means we find a T-shaped 16.5 kW lithium-ion battery and a 1.4-liter petrol engine.

The battery and the electric motor deliver 157 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque, while combined output means 217 hp and a sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7.8 seconds. The ELR can be 240-volt recharged in 5 hours and this translates in 37 miles of electric range.

"The ELR's blend of leading technology with provocative design and fun-to-drive performance is set to bring new buyers to Cadillac and to electrification itself," said Uwe Ellinghaus, chief marketing officer, Global Cadillac.
