Ferrari 458 Italia is nominated in Fifth Gear’s ‘Fast Car’ award for 2010

Article by Christian A., on December 14, 2010

Fifth Gear has named the Ferrari 458 Italia as one of its nominees for “Fast Car of the Year.” The awards are decided by the Fifth Gear team, including crew and presenters, and are given to the most notable and deserving cars that have been featured in either of the two series of Fifth Gear during 2011. 2010 British Touring Car Champion Jason Plato reviewed the mid-engined V8 sports car on a road test in the hills above Maranello.

He described the Ferrari 458 Italia as “a beautifully-engineered bit of kit.” It can be recalled that the car was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009 to instant critical acclaim.

After an extensive international media test drive program in Maranello, the car received enthusiastic reviews, with its roadholding, handling, performance, and ride comfort. It isn’t often that the world’s leading journalists are so vigorous with their praises.

Aside from this nomination from Fifth Gear, the 458 Italia has received multiple international recognitions, including GQ Magazine’s “Supercar of the Year,” Auto Express’s “Performance Car of the Year, ” BBC Top Gear Magazine’s “Supercar of the Year” and “Car of the Year,” and MSN Cars “Car of the Year."
