Earlier this week, we told you that our Ferrari insider confirmed the launch of the LaFerrari XX at Abu Dhabi. Today, the vehicle was officially unveiled: this is the Ferrari FXX K. According to Ferrari, the K in its moniker is a reference to the “KERS” kinetic energy recovery system, which means that the exclusive clients who will get behind the wheel will get an unprecedented driving experience.
Just as we told you, the Ferrari FXX K offers a total output of 1050 hp, 860 hp delivered by the 6.2-liter V12 petrol engine and 190 hp by the electric motor, while the maximum torque is in excess of 900 Nm. Ferrari says That the engine features new camshafts and a modified valve train with mechanical tappets.
Moreover, the intake manifolds were redesigned and received a special type of polishing treatment, while the exhaust system was modified as its silencers were eliminated.
HY-KERS system also evolved and can be used through the 4 driving modes: Qualify, for maximum performance within a limited number of laps; Long Run, which optimizes the performance consistency; Manual Boost for instant maximum torque delivery; Fast Charge, for a fast recharge of the vehicle’s battery.
When it comes to design, the cars received a twin-profile spoiler as well as a large splitter, which is 30 mm lower. Moreover, there are two pairs of vertical elements, an endplate and a dive plane, which together with vertical fins channel the air towards the car’s flank.
New side skirts extend out from sills. At the rear, the tail section is now higher and the mobile spoiler extends further for a total increase of 60 mm when fully deployed. A vertical fin as well as a small wing on each side act as guide vanes and boost the spoiler’s efficiency.
The new rear air diffuser also optimizes air extraction from the underbody. Compared with the standard version, the Ferrari FXX K offers a %50 improvement in downforce in the low drag configuration and %30 improvement in the more aggressive downforce configuration, resulting a figure of 540 kg at 200 km/h.
