Ferrari launches Tailor-Made personalisation programme

Article by Christian Andrei, on December 7, 2011

Ferrari launched the Tailor-Made a.k.a. its exclusive new personalisation programme developed for those clients who want even more from a supercar and seize to create a truly bespoke car. According to Ferrari, the clients are assisted and guided through the whole selection process by their own Personal Designer who makes sure that the resulting car will be unique but also consistent with the Ferrari brand and its tradition.

The Tailor-Made programme offers three collections inspired directly by Ferrari’s DNA: Scuderia, Classica and Inedita. The Scuderia is inspired by firm’s sporting history and offers a choice of racing-derived materials, finishes and liveries, while the Classica offers a modern twist on the styling cues and features.

The Inedita introduces an element of experimentation and innovation in terms of styling, colours and materials. Some of the luxury materials include cashmere but denim, or carbon-fiber are also available. The Scuderia collection ranges all the way from carbon-fibre trim to technical fabrics, chamois and rubberised leather, Alcantara, microfibres, Kevlar, satin-finish and matte metals.

The 250 Testa Rossa, which sold at auction at Pebble Beach in August 2011 for a record $16.4 million, was the inspiration for the 458 Spider sporting blue and white NART stripes over an historic Rosso Racing body colour.

This model comes with seats upholstered in the same leather used in the Formula 1 cars of the past but also with diamond-quilted fabric inspired by the original Testa Rossa motif. The Classica offers elegant pastel colours of the past; the use of vintage leather, or wool, cashmere or velvet; special treatments for the hard areas of the cabin to match the exterior; chromed elements, stitching details and more natural leathers.

The FF received a modern reworking in the Classic collection, inspired by the 250 Europa. According to Ferrari, this model received a three-layer Ingrid silver paintwork with dark grey sills and rims, while the interior got pinstripe cloth and dark brown semi-aniline leather seats, cashmere roof lining, grey carpet mats, interior trim inserts in the same colour as the exterior, teak-trimmed boot. The Inedita introduces novel, innovative styling cues. The denim-trimmed Ferrari California is the best example of what the Inedita can do for your car.
