Considered one of the most celebrated cars of Ford is its brand Figo. The 5-speed manual transmission hatchback car became an instant hit in the Indian auto car market after it was introduced in the year 2010. The car is also top rated and highly awarded in the auto industry for its power, exteriors, interiors and spectacular performance in tougher situations.
With increasing competition in the market, Ford introduced updated version of Figo with a number of changes in exteriors and interiors including redesigned head and tail lamps, hexagonal grille, new fog lamp housings and alloy wheels. The car now comes in new colours, which have added to the appeal of the car. Inside the cabin is much quieter than its older version due to additional damping. Audio controls are mounted on steering column etc.
However, the engine is still unchanged. The new version of Ford Figo uses 1.4 litre 1396 cc diesel and 1.2 litre 1196cc petrol engine. The face lifted Figo petrol variant delivers 12.3kmpl in city while 15.6kmpl on highways, which in comparison to its competitors is bit less. On mileage, low maintenance front Ford will have to offer more to woo consumers.
The new Figo in its petrol version churns maximum power at 6250 rpm while the maximum toque produced is 102 Nm. On the other hand, diesel engine produces maximum power at 4000 rpm and toque of 160 Nm. The car crosses 100kmph in about 15.5 seconds in petrol variant while Diesel Figo can sprint 100kmph in nearly 16 seconds.
The kinetic design of Figo has made the car very rooted, muscular and more contemporary as well as modern. Hexagonal grille along with redesigned headlamps, new fog lights design, wide-eyed headlamps add style and aggression to it. The front and rear bumper has an attractive shape and new vertical tail lamps have given the car a new look. 14-inch alloy wheels add to the character of the car making it trendy. Ford Figo is one of the better looking out of the lot in the competitive auto industry. Figo measures 37.95m in length, 16.8m in width and 14.27m in height. It is more compact than other contemporaries. The ground clearance of Figo is 1.65m, which is slightly less than the competitors in this segment.
The car is spacious and has enhanced comfort levels. With ample leg and head room, front and back seats are soothing. It has 284 litres boot space and quality upholstery used for seats. The improved seating gives the driver a clear view of the road. New steering mounted controls are a little awkwardly placed. Storage boxes inside cabin for mobile phone, water bottle, coins etc makes it attractive. Audio system is compatible with radio, CD/MP3 along with USB and AUX-in. The excellent air conditioning and heating system is one of the best in its class.
The tyres and suspension system give the car a decent balance on road. It comes with ventilated disc brakes in front while drum brakes in rear. The Titanium versions come with Anti – lock braking system to enhance safety. The car is best suited for city road than the highways due to its low power output. With power steering and 4.9 m turning radius driving is much comfortable.
