GM and Costco Auto Program team up to offer new discount promo

Article by Anita Panait, on October 5, 2012

General Motors and Costco Auto Program have made available to Costco members a vehicle discount promotion and $500 Costco Cash Card when they purchase selected GM models. The offer, which started October 2, 2012 and ends January 2, 2012, applies to certain Buick, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles.

During the promo period, Costco members could avail of the GM Preferred Pricing, which is the same as employee pricing, as well as all rebates and incentives when they buy or lease 2012 or 2013 GM models specified.

These models include the Chevrolet Camaro (excluding the ZL1), Cruze compact, Equinox crossover, Malibu sedan, Silverado pickup and Traverse crossover. The deal also involves Buick Enclave crossover, LaCrosse sedan and Verano compact sedan as well as GMC Acadia crossover, Sierra pickup and Terrain SUV.

After purchasing a vehicle through GM Preferred Pricing and completing a Costco Auto Program member survey, Costco members will receive a $500 Costco Cash Card, which is similar to a gift card that can be used only at Costco stores.

James Bell, head of consumer affairs for GM, remarked that that last promotion with Costco Auto Program, which ran in winter 2011, “was very successful." The last GM-Costco Auto Program promotion included selected Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks, SUVs and crossovers. Honey Mae Kenworthy, spokesperson for Costco Auto Program, said the goal of last year’s promotion was to reach 5,000 sales, and they managed to exceed the target.
