General Motors and warehouse retailer Costco have entered a new two-month deal wherein dealerships will sell GMC light trucks to members of the warehouse retailer, according to James Fibraio, general sales manager at T&T Coast Buick-GMC in Sea Girt, N.J. Under this promotion that started Nov. 1 and ends on Jan. 3, members can purchase selected new Chevrolet and GMC light trucks via participating dealerships at a price that’s equivalent to what its employees get.
The program is available on the following models: Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe and Traverse and the GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
Its members will only have to pay this price on top of other GM rebates and incentives that the customer can qualify for. Costco members who buy a vehicle get a $500 Costco Cash Card. According to Rick Borg, vice president of Costco's auto program, Costco estimates that its members will purchase more than 5,000 new Chevrolet and GMC light trucks through the program.
GM spokesman Jim Cain said that this Costco promotion is a "brand-awareness program" – the first time that GM initiated such a promotion. He said that the program is open to all of its Chevy and GMC dealers but it isn’t compulsory.
To join, Costco members have to register with the Costco Auto Program either online or by phone. They would also have to accomplish redemption forms and surveys so that they could get the $500 Costco Cash Card incentive given after the purchase is made.
