At this point, we don’t know for a fact whether the Cadillac ATS Coupe and its variants would be dropped or if they will be produced due to the contrasting rumors being tossed around. Cadillac itself is being vague. In a recent Motor Trend report, Cadillac is expected to shelve the ATS Coupe and to forget about plans to make the convertible and wagon variants.
But when asked about the ATS, Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell said that there is “no recent radical shift in strategy.” It may mean that ATS Coupe isn’t making any progress and isn’t part of any plan or GM may be focusing on its development. Caldwell added, “On either end of the spectrum the reporting is inaccurate.”
He also said that there’s a plan to make variants, implying that the concept of ATS variants haven’t been dropped entirely. He said that the company has yet to determine how this plan will be executed. It could also be interpreted to mean that Cadillac will gauge how the market responds to the ATS before it offers variants.
2015 ATS Coupe features the same 2,775-mm or 109.3-inch wheelbase as the sedan, yet possesses its own bodywork. Its doors, roof, trunk link, and rear fenders are uniquely its own. The ATS Coupe also has its own specific front fenders and front fascia that can accommodate a wider track compared to the sedan. What’s more, it is the first-ever production model to carry Cadillac's revised crest.
Moreover, the ATS Coupe has an aggressive stance that showcases wider front and rear tracks compared with the sedan. This is enhanced by the Coupe’s short overhangs and by sheet metal wrapped tautly around its tires. Also exclusive to the Coupe are its standard 18-inch wheels.
The ATS Coupe also has bold lighting elements, which are a signature feature for Cadillacs. And the Cadillac ATS Coupe advances this tradition with its available LED headlamps and Adaptive Forward Lighting. The base models have projector-beam headlamps, whereas all models, except the standard ones, include high-intensity discharge headlamps as well as vertical LED light signatures for the front. Lighting up the exterior door handles of the Performance and Premium lines lend function and a technologically advanced style to the distinctive ATS Coupe. All models have rear-center stop lamps and LED taillamps.
Additionally, the ATS Coupe includes capless fueling.
When it comes to interiors, the Coupe features the same driver-focused cabin of the sedan, with handcrafted cut-and-sewn upholstery, decorative stitching, and the use of authentic materials like aluminum, leather, wood, and carbon fiber, all intended to add an emotional connection to your driving experience.
