Shanghai GM and the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) in Shanghai developed the Sail electric concept vehicle, which is based on the Chevrolet Sail that went on sale at the beginning of 2010. The Sail electric concept vehicle, an environmentally-friendly small car that is expected to appeal to ordinary Chinese families, is driven by a lithium-ion battery with maximum output of 65 kW and maximum torque of 220 Nm.
It uses regenerative braking to produce more energy and has a maximum speed of 130 km/h and can go up to 150 kilometers on a single electric charge. The Intelligent Charging Assisting System maximizes the energy conversion ratio. The Sail is inspired by leaves, as evidenced in the exterior, and its simple contemporary design is aerodynamic.
The Sail electric concept vehicle, which has adopted electric vehicle standards for safety set by ISO and SAE, features a simple yet modern interior along with a range of electronic amenities.
Making its debut in Guangzhou is the new Chevrolet Spark, which is equipped with a 1.0-liter engine and offers functionality and environmental friendliness at a new level in the mini-car segment. It has a personalized interior that suits the preferences of younger customers and it is priced between RMB77,800 and RMB88,800.
The Cadillac SLS 2.0T SIDI, which sets a new performance standard for low-emission luxury business cars, is also set to make its global debut. It is the first vehicle in Cadillac's 100-year history to offer a four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It denotes Cadillac's entrance into the 2.0- to 2.5-liter luxury business car segment. Three variants are priced between RMB388,800 and RMB488,800.
GM is unveiling the new Chevrolet Spark at the Guangzhou Motor Show. This new production car from Chevrolet is bound to introduce a new degree of environment-friendly driving and functionality in the country’s mini-car segment. GM is also unveiling at Guangzhou its new Cadillac SLS 2.0T SIDI premium car that establishes a new standard in terms of performance among low-emission luxury business cars. This car will be Cadillac’s first vehicle to be powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, thereby signifying the premium brand's arrival into the 2.0- to 2.5-liter luxury business car segment.
The new Cadillac SLS 2.0T SIDI is available in three variants, with prices ranging from RMB388,800 to RMB488,800. GM is also unmasking at the show the new Buick Regal GS Sport upper-medium sedan and the new Buick GL8 luxury MPV. The Regal GS Sport is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged SIDI engine that develops up to 190 kW of output and 400 Nm of torque. It features three different driving modes, like the FlexRide adaptive driving system.
GM will commence next month its sales of the Buick GL8 luxury MPV, building on the legacy of the original GL8 that is considered as the first family of executive wagons in China. Along with enhancements in design, safety, space and power, as well as technology, features and quality, this new Buick GL8 luxury MPV boasts of seven innovations and 27 technological breakthroughs. Customers could choose between a 2.4-liter Ecotec engine that leads the segment in terms of fuel efficiency and a 3.0-liter V-6 SIDI intelligent direct injection engine.
Moreover, GM is displaying at the Guangzhou Motor Show the EN-V (Electric Networked-Vehicle) concept that was first unmasked at World Expo 2010 Shanghai. This concept signifies the carmaker’s vision of future urban transportation that is free from petroleum, emissions, congestion and accidents.
