Harman to supply integrated infotainment systems for Chrysler and Fiat vehicles

Article by Christian A., on August 29, 2010

Harman will be the official supplier of automotive audio and infotainment systems for both Fiat and Chrysler, further strengthening its status in the industry.

This development has been announced only a month after a similar agreement was entered with BMW. In particular, Harman will supply the next-generation infotainment platform, complete with advanced connectivity, integrated on-board navigation and audio tuning capabilities to Fiat and Chrysler. There are very few details available on this system.

It has also yet to be disclosed when this new system is expected to debut. In a release, Harman CEO Dinesh C. Paliwal said that he is delighted to extend the company's long-standing relationship with Chrysler Group to Fiat.

He also took the opportunity to state how honored Harman is for the automakers' confidence in the company. He added that he is looking forward to collaborating with Chrysler Group and Fiat to deliver solutions blending high performance with scalable, next-generation features for their customers around the world.

With regards to the BMW deal, Harman will work with Magneti Marelli. Harman will supply BMW in Asia, while Magneti Marelli will be supplying in Europe.

It is likely that similar to the BMW deal, the new system of Fiat and Chrysler will include features such as iSpeech, wireless connectivity, mobile office, navigation, and advanced telematics. However, the premium brand will have more features.
