Honda will be introducing several customized vehicles at the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 13 - 15 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. Honda is set to display customized versions of the Freed compact minivan and Beat models, as well as the all-new N BOX Custom minicar, which was launched at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Honda will be showing off the Flash Box which comes with special reflective decal sheets with embedded LEDs.
It enhances the appearance of the vehicle, both its exterior and interior. This LED application is used by Honda conservatively but there’s no stopping motorists from overusing it. Another vehicle that Honda will display is the Freed Wa which is based on the Freed Hybrid compact minivan. The “Wa” is in reference to Japanese culture. The ancient Japanese art of lacquering is used on the exterior.
Meanwhile, the interior design uses flowers to represent the four seasons. Honda will also be displaying the Freed Spike Transporter, which loads two off-road motorcycles, and the Beat Auto Salon Special, which features genuine Beat accessories and special aerodynamic parts. There will also be a specially modified Honda CR-Z named the TS-1X concept, which will be seen beside the Sports Modulo NSX and the HSV-010 GT.
Honda Motor Co., Ltd., shared that when it made the N-Series, it did so with a passion not only to offer a new vehicle in Japan but have one that is the best. In addition, the new vehicle would come with a powertrain and a new design platform that would be used for the N-Series. Since the company has a long experience when it comes to minivans, it set an objective of making a mini minivan.
The result is the N BOX which has the qualities and the charm of a minivan but placed in a mini-vehicle. Since the N BOX makes use of an advanced platform, it is able to offer comfort, space, and efficiency that is far beyond what one would expect from a mini-vehicle.
Powering the N BOX is a new engine and when paired with the new transmission, it offers dynamic driving while having remarkable fuel economy. By being fitted with an idle stop mechanism, the same system inside hybrid vehicles, the N BOX has the best fuel economy in its segment.
The N BOX also makes use of the company’s highly unique packaging technology which is putting the tank in the center. This configuration was utilized for the first time in the Fit but has been adapted for the small car concept. The N BOX also makes use of a platform which fully utilizes the M/M concept of the company. This stands for max maximum/machine minimum -- the basis of the designs of the company.
With this new platform combined with the center-tank set-up plus the new powertrain, it allows the N BXO to offer what may be the largest of cabin space compared to all other mini-vehicles out there. Like the other models, Honda is offering customers different packages and types for the N BOX in order to make it fit their needs.
While the base grade already delivers large space with security enough for a family and children, the N BOX Customer is for those who want a vehicle with a strong sense of presence and its very own personality. According to Honda, sales for its N BOX are expected to start on December 16, 2011.
