Honda holds ‘Greenest Vehicles’ title for 11 straight years

For the past 11 years, Honda has been recognized for being the ‘greenest’. Specifically, the carmaker has been at the top of the Greenest Vehicles list compiled by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). For this year, five of Honda’s models were chosen as among the greenest in their class.

The natural gas-powered Civic GX received the title of America's greenest vehicle for the eighth time (also giving the title to Honda for the 11th time in a row).

The Civic Hybrid and Insight were on this list too. ACEEE also picked the CR-Z Sport Hybrid coupe and Odyssey.

John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda, said that the highest level of recognition from ACEEE further illustrates Honda's long standing commitment to developing vehicles that feature both outstanding fuel economy and low emissions.

Mendel said that Honda is “honored” for its vehicles to be known as among the 'greenest' by an organization committed exclusively to environmental efficiency and sustainability.

Earlier this week, Honda has unveiled a new and even greener version of the Civic, which can reach fuel economy figures of over 40 mpg on the highway (for the HF and Hybrid versions).
