Honda reveals the $105,000 driving simulator

Article by Christian A., on August 29, 2010

This is Honda's latest version of its automotive driving simulator. Who wouldn't want to learn to drive without worries of crashing? Honda wishes to capitalize on that need.

In fact, about 200 of these driving simulators have been sold since 2001 to Japan and other countries. Honda has a target of selling 30 of these units this year.

To accomplish this goal, Honda is offering new features and a new bargain model too. This actually won't fall under the 'bargain category' for most people.

At just under $70,000 (at current exchange rates, including Japanese taxes), this two-axis motion model is quite a hefty purchase. The six-axis motion simulator is being sold for $105,000. What buyers will be getting is what could be perceived to simply be a steering wheel of the American Honda Accord on a high-definition 42-inch LCD display.

There are various modes: basic Day mode, Night mode, Fog mode, and Highway experience version. Honda also makes motorcycle and bicycle simulators.

In October 2009, Honda aimed to sell 500 of the bicycle simulators, which will sell for about $8200 in Japan. The latest version of the automotive driving simulator has a touch-panel monitor.
