How the Nissan LEAF TV ad made us love electric cars

Article by Christian Andrei, on September 9, 2010

I am going to begin this article by saying that my dream is to buy a Porsche 911 Turbo (or a Cayenne Turbo, but that’s another story). I dreamed all my life and still, I am so far away. And I must say, that nobody can change my thoughts, I love Porsche sports cars and any other sports vehicles.

Although Porsche remains the most fuel efficient sports car (in my opinion), I have to admit that today something terrible happened: a 1 minute video changed my vision about sports cars and made me appreciate the upcoming electric vehicles that are beginning to be present on all the markets in the world.

Today I saw the first TV ad of Nissan’s LEAF electric vehicles called ‘Polar Bear’, and honestly to tell you after I remained speechless… this ad made me realize that although sports cars are beautiful, they really don’t help the planet so much due to the CO2 emissions.

It’s not a secret anymore that the greenhouse effect is more visible at the North Pole and animals are beginning to disappear.

That’s why I guess we should think with our hearth ( andnot with our wallet) and make this planet a better place for us and the next generations that are about to come!

Regarding the LEAF, I have to admit that it is a brilliant vehicle. The LEAF’s AC motor develops 80kW of power and 280Nm of torque, enough to provide a maximum speed of more than 140km/h (90 mph).

With a full battery charge, the car delivers a total range of 100 miles or 160 kilometers, more than enough I for all of us. So, why not let the polar bears live?
