Ian Callum will create its own classic Jaguar MKII with Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth

Article by Christian Andrei, on March 26, 2013

A “special” Jaguar MKII is being built by Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth (CMC) for Ian Callum, the Director of Design at Jaguar Cars. Callum will be in charge of the design specification for the car. He will be partnering with a team from CMC. To design this car, several fundamental engineering modifications were involved.

Callum said that he has been a fan of the Jaguar MKII since he was a kid and now, he’s getting his dream to build a Jaguar according to his exact design specifications. This will be the first classic Jaguar that Callum has ever owned. He said that the MKII is one of the most attractive saloons ever built but he still wants to revise several details.

This is why both aesthetic and technical changes will be applied to the car that CMC has selected as a donor car. He explained that he aims to make the stance of the MKII better. He also wants to simplify the car’s exterior trim and remove any parts which he thinks are unnecessary. There will be subtle modifications to the interior too. According to Nick Goldthorp, Managing Director of Classic Motor Cars, this has got to the “most exciting” special project that they’ve taken on.
