Infiniti Performance Line is composed of premium performance models with the first one to be released known as the IPL G Coupe. This model set the example for what would become the design principle of the IPL range which is total vehicle performance. However, it was not limited performance as it is expected to have distinct qualities that matched with exclusive features for both the exterior and the interior.
These are the selling points and it remains true with the second model coming out, the 2013 Infiniti IPL G Convertible. On the outside, it has a number of parts that have been styled to enhance aerodynamics as well as having new exhaust and the aluminum-alloy IPL 19-inch wheels. Under the hood is the IPL-tuned V6 engine and then there is the new suspension.
On the inside are a number of leather-appointed features. It also comes with the retractable three-piece hardtop of the G Convertible. Since the IPL G Convertible is mainly based on the Infiniti G37 Convertible, it comes equipped with the advanced 3.7-liter VQ37VHR V6 engine. The new model still has the engine management system though this has been recalibrated by optimizing both the ignition timing and the air-fuel mix.
The brand also managed to increase the maximum output to 7,400 rpm. Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore shared that the Infiniti Performance Line has always been about testing the limits on the ultra-high sports series concept. Through the IPL, he added, the brand is able to offer premium performance for customers who want a different level of exclusivity and the driving excitement that goes along with it. He continued by saying that the IPL has these features but puts it in an Infiniti twist.
Poore said that the IPL G Convertible is similar to other models that Infiniti has released in that it takes a different road compared to its rivals. He continued by saying that the retractable hardtop for example was designed in a way that it would look good no matter how it is positioned, down or up. The new model is not only a good addition for the lineup but it also takes the Infiniti G Convertible to even greater heights, Poore said. The 2013 IPL G Convertible will go on sale starting in the spring of 2012.
