Infiniti introduces G37x S with AWD in the UK

Article by Christian A., on April 3, 2012

Infiniti introduces the newest addition to its G Saloon range in the United Kingdom -- the G37x S. This is the first time that the sportiest S grade of Infiniti comes with all-wheel drive in the G range. In the past, the AWD was only available in the GT. Just like any other G model, the G37x S is run by a 3.7-liter, 316-bhp (320PS) V6 engine matched with a 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifts.

The vehicle accelerates to 62 mph from a standstill in only 6.0 seconds. The swift rate is available virtually regardless of road surface or weather, thanks to the automaker's torque-sensing AWD system aboard. The vehicle has a top speed of 149 mph. It has an official combined fuel consumption of 25.7 mpg (11.0 l/100km) with carbon dioxide emissions of 255g/km. The latest G model comes with a starting price of £38,979. It possesses all the features, technology and style characteristic of the Infiniti brand.

The vehicle is characterized by S hallmarks like the red S badges, smoked lens headlights and 18-inch Sport design alloy wheels. The interior features aluminum pedals and footrest as well as sports seats with 14-way electric adjustment for the driver. It also has the Multimedia pack of hard disk drive (HDD) navigation and music systems, reversing camera, high resolution touch screen and 10-speaker Bose Premium Sound System.

Similar to the other G models available in the UK, standard features of the G37x S include leather seat facings, adaptive bi-Xenon lights, Shodo aluminum trim, i-Key smart access, Scratch Shield paint, and electrically adjustable steering column and front seats.

The only option available for any G model is metallic paint which costs £577. The flagship G37 S Premium (£40,619) boasts of sports brakes, sports suspension, 4-Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) and Viscous Limited Slip Differential to get the most from the balanced rear-drive chassis. This model is also equipped a range of electronic safety aids such as Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) and Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC).

Comprising the entry point to the line-up are two GT models, which are currently available in rear-wheel drive form only. The G37 GT is available for as low as £34,909 while the GT Premium starts at £37,849 OTR. The GT Premium is equipped with Multimedia pack and sunroof, among other extra features. Completing the G family in the UK for 2012 are the G37 Convertible, which is available for as low as £45,235, and the G37 Coupé, which has a starting price of £36,359. These two models remain unchanged.
