A number of Jaguar Land Rover models including the Jaguar C-X75, Range Rover Sport SVR and the Land Rover Defender -- will be stars in their own right as they are scheduled to appear in the latest installment of the James Bond film “Spectre.”
These special James Bond stunt vehicles were unveiled for the public to see at the palatial Thurn und Taxis in Frankfurt. Gracing the event were stars Naomie Harris who played Moneypenny and David Bautista who took on the role of Hinx.
British singer and musician John Newman entertained guests by performing a number of top 10 hits from his album. In one of the high-speed chase scenes in the film, Hinx is seen piloting a Jaguar C-X75 through the streets of Rome.
This Jaguar C-X75 supercar was specially provided by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) in cooperation with development partner Williams Advanced Engineering. SVO was established June last year as part of Jaguar Land Rover’s effort to meet the expectations of Jaguar and Land Rover customers.
SVO’s functions include the development of high performance versions of current Jaguar and Land Rover models as well as the creation of luxury bespoke commissions and limited run collector editions.
Bautista remarked that driving the C-X75 on a chase scene in the James Bond movie was a dream come true for him. He described the supercar as a “beautiful beast of a car” that will etch its own mark in film history.
On the other, specially modified Land Rover Defenders and the Range Rover Sport SVR also had their spotlight in major action scenes shot in Austria.
JLR Special Operations division took charge of building the Defenders, installing 37-inch diameter off-road tires and enhanced body protection to enable these vehicles to challenge the terrain of the snow-covered mountain roads in Austria.
Harris also talked about her Bond debut driving a defending in Instanbul. She remarked that she was thrilled to be with the Jaguar Land Rover team during the special event for James Bond vehicles.
On the other hand, John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, remarked that the British carmaker is proud to have its vehicles included in the James Bond film.
He noted that Spectre represents an incredible opportunity to showcase Jaguar Land Rover’s production and concept cars. James Bond fans around the globe could avail of exclusive Spectre content on Jaguar and Land Rover's social channels and Web sites.
They would be given special access to unseen footage and interviews with the design, SVO and stunt teams and would be treated to a walk-around of the new Jaguar C-X75.
Spectre is the 24th edition of the James Bond franchise and is brought to us by Albert R. Broccoli's EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The movie will be shown in the United States in November.
