K2 unveils BMW M Design Edition skis

Article by Christian A., on January 6, 2012

These new skis are the product of the partnership between BMW M and K2. This new 500-pair limited edition of the K2 LTD. BMW M Design Edition (the K2 SideShow model) offers excellent handling and total control on each bend. BMW M automobiles are the inspiration for the design of this special edition, which offer maximum performance, enjoyable driving, and strong looks that show off its speed and strength.

With these skis, you get the advantages from having a traditional camber as well as reap the benefits of a rocker (shovel section bent up) too. The new K2 Collection comes with the K2 BASELINE technology that provides power, and an edge grip and control due to its camber.

Meanwhile, the rocker enhances the skis’ versatility and turnability. The K2 Ski has a BASELINE construction that makes it perfect for any type of terrain, all snow conditions and virtually every subsurface. This only leads to the conclusion that it is the ideal match for BMW M. These skis are built in a limited, numbered edition of 500 pairs.

These skis can’t be bought. Rather, they’re one of the prizes in the BMW xDrive Cup this year. Just like in the past years, "Badges" can be collected by winter sports enthusiasts at 13 winter sports venues in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Winter fans could test the intelligent xDrive four-wheel drive system at the BMW xDrive course.

There is a specially marked-out giant slalom where ski and snowboard enthusiasts can race with others. And in 10 of 13 destinations, they could upload their own personal SkiMovies online. A Badge is given if someone purchases a ski pass in one of the BMW xDrive Partner ski areas.

A Performance Badge is given for every 5,000 metres of altitude covered. Another way to earn Badges is to ski down chosen routes at the BMW xDrive Cup destinations. Bad weather is no reason to be idle. You could simply visit www.bmw-xdrive-guide.com where you could try to find a link for the Webtour Badge.
