Since its introduction back in 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Kia GT Concept was rumored to enter production, then abandoned and so on. Today, another report emerged on the Web saying that the South Korean manufacturer will produce the GT Concept as its halo car and in order to take on cars such as the Audi A7, Bmw 6-Series Gran Coupe or the Mercedes-Benz CLS.
Just like the concept version, the production version will be a four-door fastback and will sit above the K900, which is a rival for other German sedans such as the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series or the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
In addition, Edmunds says that the production version will not offer the stylish rear-hinged suicide doors. Moreover do not expect to see the cameras that replaced the exterior mirrors or the wheels with carbon fiber inserts as the vehicle will adopt a slightly different design.
In the concept form, the GT featured a 3.3-liter R-TDI turbocharged petrol engine that produced 394 hp and 534 Nm of torque. The engine was bolted to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which delivered the power to the rear wheels.
