No one can every say that a SUV with a diesel engine is lacking in performance. KICHERER, known for tuning Mercedes cars, shows why this is so by recreating the Mercedes GL 420 CDI to its very own KICHERER GL 42 Black Line.
Since the engine control unit has been modified, the KICHERER GL is able to get extra power from its V8 engine which now has 360 hp with 900 Nm of maximum torque. In order to enjoy this additional performance, the electronic speed has been increased to 280 km/h.
Since the suspension has also been modified, it gives this SUV a sportier appearance. Even the accelerator pedal has been modified resulting in an optimized response and a more spontaneous engine operation.
All of these different technical improvements are accomplished with the two-pass sports exhaust system. The KICHERER GL thus has an off-road package to show that performance is indeed better.
These include having larger genders, running boards, roof-edge spoiler, grille, and black body trims, among many others. Rounding up the package are the 21-inch wheels with wide-base tires. The KICHERER GL also had some modifications like the sports steering wheel.
The interior trim is now made up of carbon. Leather covers much of the interior, encompassing even its roof. The different components can be bought separately or as part of the whole vehicle. The KICHERER GL is priced at 125,820 Euros.
