A Lamborghini Aventador with significantly more power – the LP720-4 50 Anniversario -- was launched at the Shanghai motor show in celebration of the brand’s 50th anniversary. Only 100 samples of the LP720-4 50 Anniversario will be built. The Anniversario model is powered by the same 6.5-litre V12 but it is more powerful than the standard car, from 700 hp to 720 hp, a 20 hp improvement.
The power gain is too small to represent a significant improvement over the standard LP700-4, which can accelerate from zero to 62mph in 2.9sec and reach a top speed of 218mph. The Lamborghini Aventador Anniversario uses bright yellow paint dubbed 'Giallo Maggio', or 'Yellow May'.
Lamborghini also gave the limited-edition Aventador a bodykit that’s inspired by the newly introduced Veneno and facelifted Gallardo, with a deeply jutting front spoiler, bolder rear diffuser and deeper side skirts. Furthermore, the exterior features '50' badges, displaying its special status and black alloy wheels. Even the interior uses the same yellow color scheme of the exterior.
It has yellow quilted leather on the seats and door cards. The transmission tunnel also uses yellow leather while the black leather on the dash uses yellow piping.
According to Lamborghini's chief executive, Stephan Winkelmann, the 100 units of the LP720-4 50 Anniversario will all be in yellow, which is historically, Lamborghini’s most sold color.
