Lamborghini confirms the Urus SUV for 2017

As you may know already, Lamborghini recently unveiled the Egoista Concept during company’s 50th anniversary celebrations but it appears that these was not the only interesting car announced. The Italian manufacturer also announced that it will produce the Urus SUV Concept and that the production will begin in 2017.

According to Autocar, the Lamborghini Urus will use the new Volkswagen MLB platform, same that it will be used on the upcoming Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and the Volkswagen Touareg. The new MLB platform will incorporate carbon fiber in order to reduce mass.

Regarding the design of the Urus SUV, it appears that most of if will be seen on the final version but there will be some modifications on the lights and grilles. There are no details regarding the powertrain, but we do know that the engine will deliver around 600 hp. Autocar also hints at a hybrid version of the Urus SUV that could use an upgraded version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 used by Audi and an electric motor.
