Article by Christian A., on May 5, 2014

Earlier today, we told you about the 30th Anniversary Edition of the M5, but now we received some real photos with the new vehicle. As we told you, the new M5 30th Anniversary Edition comes with the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that generates not 560 hp like on the standard version, but 600 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque.

This model is only available with the M DCT double clutch automatic transmission. If the standard M5 hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, we expect this special edition to be quicker and be able to accelerate in just 4.2 seconds.

Regarding its design, the special edition of the M5 comes qith a BMW Individual Dark Silver metallic colour, dark chrome parts and 20-inch wheels in jet black polished. As an option, BMW offers the Competition Package, which adds a stiffer suspension that lowers the car by 10 millietres, new Dynamic mode and carbon ceramic brakes.

Inside, we find Merino black leather and Alcantara anthracite with the stitched “30 Jahre M5” lettering on all four seats, as well as Alcantara anthracite on the middle console, armrest and door handles. In addition, the steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara anthracite, while the interior design is completed by the Aluminum Trace dark.

On the dashboard we also find a numbered plaque that says “30 Jahre M5” and “1/XXX”. BMW also offers the optional M multifunctional seats, the through-loading system, Harman Kardon surround or Bang & Olufsen Advanced audio systems, comfort access system and the Lane Change Warning or Driving Assistant.

According to the leaked documents, the M5 30th anniversary M5 will be available worldwide, except China, with no manual transmission in the United States.
