Leaked: Hyundai ix25 looks ready for the compact SUV segment

Article by Christian A., on April 11, 2014

Back in February, we’ve told you that Hyundai will introduce the ix25 compact SUV at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. Today, we received in our inbox the first reportedly-official image of the brand new vehicle. As you can see, the styling is obviously inspired by the bigger ix35 and features the signature front grille, wrap-around headlights, lower air intakes that house the front fog lights and a front bumper with skid plate that underlines its off-road capabilities.

What we do know is that the ix25 sits on the same platform used by the Hyundai i20, which means that we will find the same engines found on its smaller brother: 1.2-liter and 1.4-liter petrol engines as well as a bigger 1.4-liter turbodiesel.

Regarding the design, we expect to see more styling cues borrowed from the Curb Concept that was introduced by Hyundai back in 2011 at the Detroit Auto Show.

If you like the new ix25, you’d better know that for the moment, the Korean carmaker will offer it only in China. Still, we are sure that Hyundai will consider other markets for selling its new compact SUV.
