Lexus launches breakthrough seat technology dubbed V-LCRO

Article by Christian Andrei, on April 5, 2016

Performance cars are primarily designed and constructed to become vessels of speed, and one of the most important factors that make the best performance car is the connection between the driver and the vehicle. There are different ways to improve this connection, one of which is the perfect set of seats.

Seat bolsters typically keep the driver pinned in place while doing sharp turns, all the while enjoying the adrenaline rush. Safety is after all the number one priority in high-risk racing tracks. Japanese automaker Lexus has since been in the continuous pursuit to find the best ways to maintain the driver and vehicle connection.

Lately, they have released their latest innovation and one of their breakthroughs is known as V-LCRO or the Variable Load Coupling Rear Orientation. This technological innovation aims to enhance the performance of cars on tracks.

It basically allows the driver to make aggressive turns while reducing movement on the driver’s seat. Lexus has partnered with Velcro Companies itself to produce the V-LCRO. Along with the seat bolsters, the V-LCRO is fitted with Velcro brand adhesive panels.

These hold the driver in proper position especially when doing sudden maneuvers and twists and turns in the race track. It can hold to up to 15 psi and can hold the driver in place for up to 3.0 Gs in any direction.

To complete the whole V-LCRO equation, the driver is required to wear a special suit. The complex pattern of hooks and loops on the suit enables a much better grip on the seat that keeps the driver in place at any angle and for various G-loads. As an interior option on Lexus’ racing-inspired vehicles like the RC F and GS F, the V-LCRO technology helps to enhance the driver’s capability to maximize the vehicle’s performance.

Lexus has ventured beyond the automotive world and this breakthrough innovation has enhanced the connection between the driver and the vehicle. This is amazing, especially when considering that this technology has been around for more than 75 years.

Velcro technology coupled with Lexus standards makes it a must to have a V-LCRO driver’s seat installed to your Lexus. The V-LCRO seat is an optional upgrade but it is worth the price because of its functionality that makes it a lot safer to drive a Lexus performance car.

Lexus Introduces Groundbreaking V-LCRO Technology

When it comes to performance cars, few things are more important than the connection between driver and vehicle. For luxury automaker Lexus, the continuous pursuit to enhance this connection even includes venturing outside the automotive world for new solutions.

Today, Lexus is introducing its latest performance feature: Variable Load Coupling Rear Orientation (V-LCRO), a proprietary technology that enhances performance by allowing the driver to take turns more aggressively while significantly reducing movement across the back and seat.

“While all performance cars use seat bolsters to hold a driver in place during aggressive
maneuvering, we’re taking it a step further. In this case, the technology we’re employing is actually over 75 years old,” said Brian Bolain, general manager, Lexus product & consumer marketing. “The RC F and GS F are exhilarating, racing-inspired vehicles. By partnering with Velcro Companies, our new V-LCRO technology enhances the driver’s ability to maximize the cars’ track-proven performance.”

The optional V-LCRO driver’s seat secures the driver in place, refining the functionality of the vehicles’ contoured seatbacks. The optional seat requires the driver to wear a specially designed suit, which, through a complex pattern of hooks and loops, creates an incredible grip at any angle and G-load. In fact, it’s designed to hold the driver in place at up to 3.0 Gs in any direction.

“The beauty of this technology is its simplicity,” said Scott Pruett, Lexus F Performance Racing
driver. “With V-LCRO, Lexus has created an unprecedented connection between driver and vehicle, and the impact on the track has been phenomenal.”

To complement the forward-thinking design of the RC F and GS F, Lexus has created a line of exclusive custom-tailored suits. The fashion line connects perfectly with the breakthrough V-LCRO driver’s seats, both in form and function.
