Luxury super car lineup for 2013 Salon Privé unveiled

Article by Anita Panait, on June 7, 2013

Salon Privé has released the lineup details of this year’s luxury super car event slated on the first week of September – the biggest ever in its eight year history. Confirming their participation so far for the 2013 Salon Privé are luxury super cars from Clark Abel, Futura Design, Spyker, Vencer, and Zagato as well as brand new models from Bentley, Maserati, McLaren, Rolls-Royce and Startech.

According to its Web site, Salon Privé is the United Kingdom's premier 'boutique' motoring event comprised of the British Super Car Show, Chubb Insurance Concours d'Elégance, Chubb Insurance Tour d'Elégance, The Concepts & Prototypes Display, Boodles Ladies' Day, The Hyper Car Collection EFG Private Bank Art & Memorabilia Fayre and a Luxury Brands Village. It is slated from September 4 to 6, 2013.

Salon Privé will present a new feature in this year’s event -- the Royal College of Art ‘Concours of the Future’ Design Exhibition. Ten students from the RCA’s Vehicle Design program were tasked to select previous Concours cars and re-design them for the modern world.

The works will be unveiled on September 4, with judging taking place the next day. Its judging panel is led by RCA visiting professor, Peter Stevens.  Designers of the top three ‘Concours of the Future’ cars will be presented with trophies designed and produced by Bridge of Weir Leather Company. The overall winner will be invited to Italy for a behind-the-scenes tour and design master-class with Andrea Zagato.

Just like the previous Salon Privés, the event will be opened by the Chubb Insurance Tour d’Elégance on September 3, 2013. The 30-mile full-day drive will start at the Royal Automobile Club in Epsom and end at Salon Privé, Syon Park -- with special stopovers at Brooklands Museum and Mercedes-Benz World.

Judging for the Chubb Insurance Concours d'Elégance, meanwhile, will occur on September 4, 2013. Its judging panel includes Derek Bell MBE, Sandra Button, Murray Walker OBE, Giles Taylor, Marek Reichman and Andrea Zagato. They will be determining which models will earn awards in no less than 11 classes. [source: Salon Prive]
