Marussia opens first showroom in Moscow, B1 & B2 production begins

Article by Christian A., on September 18, 2010

Coinciding with the grand opening of Marussia Motors’ first showroom in Moscow is the start of production of its B1 and B2 models. The showroom of the Russian specialty sports car manufacturer is located at 17 Tverskaya Street.

The B1's original design, which included a hybrid powerplant, was first shown in late 2008 but it has since been abandoned. The other model is the B2 that’s inspired by no less than a jet fighter.

Both models are powered by a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 from Cosworth that’s offered in three power levels -- 300, 360 and 420hp – which don’t make them the most powerful supercars around.

However, Marussia asserts that they perform excellently since they only weigh 1100 kg (2,425 lbs).

Accelerating from a standstill to 100 km/h can be achieved in only 3.2 seconds. These models, which Marussia claims to already have received plenty of orders for, are priced at about 100,000 euros.

Marussia aims to build up to 10,000 cars annually by 2014. Included in this goal is a third Marussia F2 SUV model, which will be launched in the spring 2011 and will be displayed in Frankfurt in September.
