Mazda offering CX-5 customers free upgrade to the Navigation version of their selected model

To usher in the entry of Mazda’s first SKYACTIV technology vehicle to the UK, Mazda is giving retail customers of the all-new Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV a free upgrade to the Navigation version of the model they chose, a low-rate (5.9% APR) finance package, and a three-year complimentary European roadside assistance.

Buyers could now pre-order a Mazda CX-5 from dealers throughout the UK. This ground-breaking model starts selling in the spring. These added equipment and finance and ownership benefits are offered now and will last until the summer. Peter Allibon, Sales Director, Mazda UK, said that customers will receive a lineup of appealing added benefits in celebration of the arrival of Mazda’s first vehicle with SKYACTIV technology.

He said that the Mazda CX-5 has “s solid environmental credentials” of up to 61.4mpg while its CO2 emissions have dropped to as low as 119g/km. He emphasized Mazda’s fun performance, striking pricing, and the uncharacteristically low cost of ownership for its class. He added that it offers amazing value for customers who want the latest in compact SUV driving, packaging and technology.

The integrated navigation comes with TomTom technology and offers three key benefits. These are: practicality (due to its sophisticated TomTom features), usability (from its large screen, live services and 45-country coverage) and security (with its built-in system deters theft).

Its primary features include the integrated 5.8-inch touch-screen monitor, SD card-based map (4GB), audio, AUX input, USB and iPod controlled via steering wheel-mounted switches, navigation powered by TomTom technologies with Live Services (offered free for the first three months) and IQ Routes that use information collected from other road users meant to compute the quickest routes at any given time period.

Customers buying this new model on Personal Contract Purchase or Conditional Sale can get the 5.9% APR Representative finance package for a period of 12, 24 or 36 months. The Mazda CX-5 model range has a starting price of £21,395 and this could go as high as £28,795 (OTR). It offers an 18-strong line-up and starts selling in the spring.

For car enthusiasts around the world, what makes the new Mazda CX-5 truly remarkable is that it is the first production model from the brand to carry the new design theme known as the KODO – Soul of Motion. Under this design theme, the brand took inspiration from the concept of motion and the way nature displays its power and beauty at the same time.

This design theme was first displayed when the brand’s sports coupe 4-door concept called the Shinari was unveiled back in 2010. It was then seen on the compact SUV crossover concept known as the Minagi. In fact, the CX-5 is mainly based on the Minagi. The KODO makes use of how animals move and it comes as no surprise that the design reveals agility, shows emotion, and has that vitality.

For the CX-5 in particular, designers at Mazda chose to focus on the fastest animal on land -- the cheetah. They saw that every time the cheetah runs, it uses its entire body to create the motion. Even with the large amount of energy involved, the cheetah does this with grace and amazing dexterity. It is this quality that the designers wanted and they knew that when the KODO would be used on an SUV, it would be taken to a new level.

Thus the exterior of the CX-5 highlights sophistication and at the same time reinforces the notion of the SUV as a vehicle that offers functionality and sturdiness. It even reveals a rather graceful sense of motion and gives hints to the possible exciting drive.

Overall, the developers at Mazda had the goal of ensuring that the CX-5 would have a good mix of functionality and form, in addition to performance of course. No wonder the CX-5 is a model that has a powerful look one expects of a crossover SUV with the emotional and dynamic style Mazda is known for. Indeed, Mazda revealed that when it started the plan to become part of the compact SUV crossover segment, a rather competitive market, it wanted a model that would both look and function as one.

The vehicle, at the very least, should be able to draw out the driving passion and the level of emotion that people expect from the brand. By using the KODO for the CX-5, Mazda hopes this will begin a new generation of vehicles that are more powerful and that run faster and show motion in a more soulful manner. Now, starting with the CX-5, KODO will exemplify the design of a whole new generation of Mazda vehicles: a faster, more forceful and more soulful means of motion.
